Restoration actions are characterized by an impressive amount of documentation, usually produced by many different professionals. The restoration of the Neptune Fountain in Bologna gave us the possibility to design an innovative Information System, built around the 3D representation of the artefact to be restored. It is a web-based Information System, accessible with common web browsers. An accurate 3D representation of the fountain is the central element of the system, since we aim to directly reference all data to the 3D geometry and to use the 3D model to index and navigate the data. High fidelity visualization of the models, easy navigation, and mechanisms for adding geo-referenced data on the 3D model were achieved by extending open source technology (3DHOP) and implementing novel mechanism to overcome the limitations of WebGL and remote rendering in general. The Information System is currently in use on-site.

Abstract
The Information System is currently in use on-site.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
