In particular, it focuses on the polemical uses of accusations of pro-Islamism by Reformation masters against exponents of religious radicalism; on Anabaptism and anti-Trinitarianism in the sixteenth century; on the Memnonites in the Netherlands; on Servet, his fortunes among Unitarians in Transylvania and some famous episodes of conversion to Islam; on religious dissent in Italy; on Quakers, England and early rationalist interpretations of Islam; on the relationship between religious radicalism and the emergence of Orientalist learning in Europe.
