This paper analyses the semantics of the Bulgarian verb chodja, the Russian chodit’, and Italian andare. We focus our attention on two semantic components of Event of Motion – ‘directionality’ and ‘deixis’ and emphasize that the temporal localization of Slavic verbs of Motion matters considerably. The study shows that in different temporal contexts, these verbs activate different meanings. This fact is especially relevant in the light of learning Bulgarian as a foreign language along with other Slavic languages, such as Russian for example. With the exception of a few cases, the language samples are taken from the multilingual subcorpus of the Russian National Corpus.

Abstract
This paper analyses the semantics of the Bulgarian verb chodja, the Russian chodit’, and Italian andare. We focus our attention on two semantic components of Event of Motion – ‘directionality’ and ‘deixis’ and emphasize that the temporal localization of Slavic verbs of Motion matters considerably. The study shows that in different temporal contexts, these verbs activate different meanings. This fact is especially relevant in the light of learning Bulgarian as a foreign language along with other Slavic languages, such as Russian for example. With the exception of a few cases, the language samples are taken from the multilingual subcorpus of the Russian National Corpus.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
