The University of Bologna’s research in the Cervia area, ongoing since 2019, has initiated an intra-site investigation in the town of Cervia Vecchia, which has now completely disappeared beneath the cultivated fields located in the centre of the salt marsh but once flourished, at least since the 12th century. With its multi-disciplinary and multi-scalar approach, this project investigates the site and the surrounding territory, dedicating space to non-invasive analyses through geophysical prospecting techniques, aerial photography and remote sensing, and the study of historical cartography. This paper presents the preliminary results of these investigations and their significant contribution to the understanding of buried archaeology.

Abstract
The University of Bologna’s research in the Cervia area, ongoing since 2019, has initiated an intra-site investigation in the town of Cervia Vecchia, which has now completely disappeared beneath the cultivated fields located in the centre of the salt marsh but once flourished, at least since the 12th century. With its multi-disciplinary and multi-scalar approach, this project investigates the site and the surrounding territory, dedicating space to non-invasive analyses through geophysical prospecting techniques, aerial photography and remote sensing, and the study of historical cartography. This paper presents the preliminary results of these investigations and their significant contribution to the understanding of buried archaeology.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
