«Teologia politica e diritto» di Geminello Preterossi

Luca Baccelli, Maria Laura Lanzillo, and Pier Paolo Portinaro discuss Geminello Preterossi’s book, «Teologia politica e diritto» (published in English with the title «Political Theology and Law»). Baccelli focuses on the three theologies analysed and criticised by Preterossi: the political one, the economic one, and the legal one. Since Preterossi argues the impossibility of authentic politics in the absence of a transcendent tension, Baccelli asks whether this transcendence must necessarily have theological connotations. Lanzillo reconstructs Preterossi’s argumentation and path, between Hobbes, Hegel and Schmitt (and many others). She finally raises the question of the risks involved in the reactivation of political theology. Portinaro connects the book to Preterossi’s earlier production and the broader debate on secularisation, but also asks how viable the proposal to reactivate political theology is in the contemporary world.
