The transmission of the Versus in laude sancti Benedicti of Paul the Deacon has been investigated in an article by Adriano Russo in 2019 («Filologia Mediolatina» 26). This paper is conceived as a supplement to that survey and aims to complete it with the addition of a few recently discovered witnesses. Four complete witnesses are added to the recensio, and their stemmatic position is defined. Moreover, a partial witness, Bologna, Archivio Arcivescovile, Foro Arcivescovile, sgab. III, fr. 33, is examined. It is a fragment coming from a manuscript produced in the 12th century in northern Italy (probably in Bologna), dismembered in the 16th century and reused for the ligature of a notarial register. It is here transcribed and described in its paleographical and codicological features. The collation of the portions of the Versus that it preserves (vv. 84-87, 108-111, 130-133) allows further remarks on the transmission of Paul’s poem, especially regarding the possibility of contamination between the two forms of the text called α and β and the circulation of α in the Middle Ages.

Abstract
84-87, 108-111, 130-133) allows further remarks on the transmission of Paul’s poem, especially regarding the possibility of contamination between the two forms of the text called α and β and the circulation of α in the Middle Ages.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
