The article aims to consider and introduce new perspectives of investigation relating to the circulation and sedimentation of the manuscript book of Tuscan origin or provenance (ante 16th century) in the city of Bologna, starting from a review of the manuscript collection preserved at the University Library (BUB). The study takes into consideration only manuscripts of certain Tuscan origin or provenance, as proven by the presence of colophon, ownership notes, ex libris or purchase notes, for a total of 34 item. Of particular note are the manuscripts linked to the Gorgonese environment (BUB 1519, 2247) and to the Certosa di Calci (BUB 1558, 2560, 2838), those belonging to the personal library of the Sienese Celso Cittadini (BUB 1554, 1789, 1791, 2070, 2650/I-II, 2838) or even those attesting to the activity of the Pisan rectory of S. Agostino di Nicosia (BUB 1983, 2586, 2455). Among the Florentine manuscripts, the valuable products of Antonio di Mario (BUB 358, 656), one manuscript from the Certosa di S. Lorenzo (BUB 2602) and the one belonging to Tedaldo della Casa, assigned to S. Croce in 1406 (BUB 2799). A brief focus is also provided on the figure of Giovanni Grisostomo Trombelli (1697-1784), Canon Regular of the monastery of the SS. Salvatore of Bologna, great bibliophile and book collector, responsible for the acquisition of numerous of the codices presented here.
