The interviews collected in the so-called Israelkorpus (IK) – a collection of narrative biographical interviews conducted by Anne Betten and her collaborators with Jews who emigrated from German-speaking countries to Palestine/Israel in the 1930s – are not only narratives about individual migration and language experiences (as has been mainly researched), but also connect to the flight and language experiences of other family members and ancestors. My analysis represents a significant turning point in the research on the IK, in that by reconstructing the language biographies and migration routes of the speakers’ relatives, the family dimension is brought into focus.

Abstract
The interviews collected in the so-called Israelkorpus (IK) – a collection of narrative biographical interviews conducted by Anne Betten and her collaborators with Jews who emigrated from German-speaking countries to Palestine/Israel in the 1930s – are not only narratives about individual migration and language experiences (as has been mainly researched), but also connect to the flight and language experiences of other family members and ancestors. My analysis represents a significant turning point in the research on the IK, in that by reconstructing the language biographies and migration routes of the speakers’ relatives, the family dimension is brought into focus.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
