The present study aims at replacing virgin polypropylene with a percentage of recycled plastics to assess the impact of this substitution on the mechanical properties of the original material. Homogenization is employed to predict the mechanical properties of the mixtures and verification is performed by considering tensile tests for each blend and mechanical properties are compared. Homogenized material properties achieved from numerical analysis and properties achieved from experiments are comparable with an error between 10 and 20%; such uncertainties might be connected with the unknown perfect mix present in the blend between the virgin and the recycled parts.
