his article explores the semiotic dimension of the prefix “re-” as a central element in the mediation and re-mediation processes of meaning. By integrating Peircean semiotics, it highlights the iterative nature of sense-making, where every new articulation builds on past interpretations while reconfiguring them. The study delves into the tension between repetition and innovation, addressing how cultural values are renegotiated and recontextualized through semiotic processes. By examining examples of symbolic mediation, the text underscores the paradox of continuity and rupture inherent in the cultural regeneration of meanings. It also offers a critical perspective on the ecological and existential implications of mediation, suggesting that “re-” embodies both a retrieval of the past and a projection towards transformative futures. The interplay between agency and structural constraints emerges as a pivotal theme, with the “re-” mediating between individual creativity and collective memory.

Abstract
his article explores the semiotic dimension of the prefix “re-” as a central element in the mediation and re-mediation processes of meaning. The interplay between agency and structural constraints emerges as a pivotal theme, with the “re-” mediating between individual creativity and collective memory.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
