The Cervia Project launched in 2019 a new landscape archaeology research in the Ravenna area, which is part of the activities long undertaken by the Chair of Medieval Archaeology of the University of Bologna on the Ravenna-Cesarea-Classe conurbation, in the Agro Decimano, in Bassa Romagna and in the Faenza area. The project takes into consideration the entire territory of Cervia, but many of its objectives are focused on the Cervia Vecchia site, the first urban settlement of Cervia located approximately 3 km from the present one, where it was relocated between the 17th-18th centuries. To cope with the multiple objectives and the complexity of the investigation context, the approach guiding the project is necessarily integrated and markedly contextual. Part of the research concerns the aero-topographical study of the old city site and the analysis of data from extensive and motorised geophysical systems, with the contribution of historical cartography. The paper presents the first results related to the understanding of the urban layout of the old town, starting with the identification of some of its main buildings and monuments, as well as various aspects of the ancient topography and sub-coastal road system.

Abstract
The paper presents the first results related to the understanding of the urban layout of the old town, starting with the identification of some of its main buildings and monuments, as well as various aspects of the ancient topography and sub-coastal road system.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
