Oncoplastic breast conserving surgery (BCS) techniques for the treatment of breast cancer have been developed for patients with challenging primary tumour location and/or size in relation to the shape and/or size of the breast. The aims are to provide better results in terms of cosmetic outcomes when compared with standard BCS, potentially improving postoperative quality of life, reducing positive margins and re-intervention rates. In this chapter we discuss oncoplastic BCS and important issues that are related to postoperative radiation, including marking of the tumour bed.

Abstract
Oncoplastic breast conserving surgery (BCS) techniques for the treatment of breast cancer have been developed for patients with challenging primary tumour location and/or size in relation to the shape and/or size of the breast. The aims are to provide better results in terms of cosmetic outcomes when compared with standard BCS, potentially improving postoperative quality of life, reducing positive margins and re-intervention rates. In this chapter we discuss oncoplastic BCS and important issues that are related to postoperative radiation, including marking of the tumour bed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
