In a geographically homogeneous region such as northern Italy, local characteristics and the relationships between the different cultural groups beyond the Alps influence and determine settlement and resource management patterns and territorial organisation. Settlement dynamics and occupation patterns depend not only on environmental factors (geomorphology, climate, availability of resources, etc.) but also on cultural factors. BINO (Bronzo dell’Italia NordOccidentale, i.e. North-Western Italian Bronze age) has settlement characteristics similar to those of the western North Alpine facies, such as southwestern Germany and western Switzerland: ditch surrounded settlements such as terramare and castellieri are absent. These in fact look to the facies of the western Carpathian Basin: large fortified settlements surrounded by earth ramparts and moats. From these premises, the hypothesis is advanced that BINO belongs to a Inter-regional system that is different from that of the rest of the Po Valley and the Friulian Plain.

Abstract
From these premises, the hypothesis is advanced that BINO belongs to a Inter-regional system that is different from that of the rest of the Po Valley and the Friulian Plain.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
