This article aims to analyse the figure of Maria Dalle Donne, the first teacher of “minor obstetrics” at the Regia Università of Bologna and director, again in the same city, of the Midwives' School between 1804 and 1842, whose study constitutes a particularly significaut object in the field of the social history of education. What appears relevant, in the context of history of education, concerns in particular the passage from a transmission of practices transmitted through a personal relationship, handed down by the most expert midwife to the student, to more structured forms of teachings, as midwives' schools, for example, aimed at larger groups and gradually characterized by the introduction of specific didactic methodologies.

Abstract
This article aims to analyse the figure of Maria Dalle Donne, the first teacher of “minor obstetrics” at the Regia Università of Bologna and director, again in the same city, of the Midwives' School between 1804 and 1842, whose study constitutes a particularly significaut object in the field of the social history of education. What appears relevant, in the context of history of education, concerns in particular the passage from a transmission of practices transmitted through a personal relationship, handed down by the most expert midwife to the student, to more structured forms of teachings, as midwives' schools, for example, aimed at larger groups and gradually characterized by the introduction of specific didactic methodologies.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
