The paper focuses on the analysis of several sixth- and early seventh-century personal ornaments, specifically coin jewelry, from the so-called “Assiut treasure.” Special attention is given to two gold pectorals currently housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (no. 17.190.1664), and the Berlin State Museums (no. 30219,506a). The examination of these objects, which includes a review of the identification and classification of the embedded coins and medallions, provides valuable insights into the phenomenon of early Byzantine coin jewelry.

Abstract
The paper focuses on the analysis of several sixth- and early seventh-century personal ornaments, specifically coin jewelry, from the so-called “Assiut treasure.” Special attention is given to two gold pectorals currently housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (no. 17.190.1664), and the Berlin State Museums (no. 30219,506a). The examination of these objects, which includes a review of the identification and classification of the embedded coins and medallions, provides valuable insights into the phenomenon of early Byzantine coin jewelry.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
