The purpose of this paper is to reflect critically on the rationale and modes of intervention adopted by urban artistic practices, in order to shed light on their contribution to the processes of transformations of the historic city. By examining the temporary piece Loro-Them (Milan, 2019) by artist Krzysztof Wodiczko, I shall attempt to illustrate how the interpretative stance of artistic practice connects with memory work when addressing socio-spatial challenges and processes of change in and of the historic urban context.
