This paper deals with the theme of “heritage care” by investigating the role of Heritage Communities in the participatory processes of conservation and management of the Galla Placidia Line, a coastal defence system built during the II World War, along the Adriatic coast. It briefly describes the scientific rediscovery of the Line focussing on Preventive Conservation Plans for bunkers, based on critical and shared confrontation with local voluntary associations.
