This chapter considers how specific values and expectations registered in the Serbian public opinion polls after 2001 have mirrored the uncertainties of the Serbian political situation and its ambivalent commitment to reforms in relations to the EU integration processes. As a result, the chapter considers in particular to what extend the attitudes of Serbs have changed in some specific values concerning the economic liberalization, democracy, social policies, nationalism, tolerance, and traditional rural perceptions since Milošević was forced to resign. The comparative analysis of the most relevant indicators stemming from the polls conducted in the last years offers a dynamic picture of the trends and expectations of Serbia towards the European Union and its eventual overcoming of a long period of isolation, while a still very delicate phase remains and new geopolitical arrangements in the region might provoke unpredictable challenges and impacts.
