The paper presents some observations on the organization of the southern necropolis of the city of Phoinike, located in northern Epirus (modern-day Albania), based on the latest archaeological and topographical data acquired in the field. Recent excavation campaigns have uncovered a new sector with monumental tombs, allowing for a better understanding of the necropolis's road network and its relationship with the upper city. This new data is also examined in light of geomorphological changes that, even in ancient times, influenced the morphology of the extensive alluvial plain on which the city is situated. The analysis of these elements provides a more nuanced and comprehensive view of the spatial organization of the site between the Hellenistic and Imperial periods.

Abstract
The paper presents some observations on the organization of the southern necropolis of the city of Phoinike, located in northern Epirus (modern-day Albania), based on the latest archaeological and topographical data acquired in the field. Recent excavation campaigns have uncovered a new sector with monumental tombs, allowing for a better understanding of the necropolis's road network and its relationship with the upper city. This new data is also examined in light of geomorphological changes that, even in ancient times, influenced the morphology of the extensive alluvial plain on which the city is situated. The analysis of these elements provides a more nuanced and comprehensive view of the spatial organization of the site between the Hellenistic and Imperial periods.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
