The European Technology Platform Photonics21 meanwhile counts more than 1,400 members coming from 49 countries. To advocate the interest on photonics, the European platform Photonics invented in 2008 a Student Innovation Award. The Research, Education and Training work group of the Photonics21 Technology European Platform has established a prize for students in the field of photonics in order to promote research in photonics especially related to R&D with industrial impact.
