This essay investigates the numerous aspects that cinema derives from its photographic basis. Amomg many others, it investigates not only the Bazinian "mummy complex", but also the Bazinian "Nero complex", as well as the impact that filmic images have on the viewer. An impact further amplified by the advent of digital technologies, because the added value of their genesis (real, presumed) will always be more effective than the quality of the result.
