Valle Trebba is the most northerly necropolis of the Etruscan port of Spina, built along a southern branch of the Po River and active between the end of the 6th and the 3rd century BC. Th is funerary area, excavated between 1922 and 1935, represents an ideal fi eld of investigation for the study of bronze vessels, thanks to the discovery of numerous specimens largely attributable to the practice of banqueting. However, the role played by this class in local ideology, remains to be investigated, especially in light of the renewed gaze that the systematic analysis, launched in 2007 by the Chair of Etruscology at the University of Bologna and now nearing completion, off ers on such contexts.
