The aim of the present chapter is, however, to analyse the entanglement of Pyla in this broader Mediterranean scenario by drawing attention to pithoi. Pyla pro- vides us with an ideal context since it preserves a particularly high number of pithoi; thus far about 300 individual pieces have been recognised. As evidenced by petrographic analyses, some of these are clearly non-local and originate elsewhere in Cyprus or outside the island. The discovery at Pyla of non-local specimens is, therefore, quite remarkable and can serve as additional evidence of the intense interconnections of this defensible site during the late thirteenth century BCE.

Abstract
The aim of the present chapter is, however, to analyse the entanglement of Pyla in this broader Mediterranean scenario by drawing attention to pithoi. Pyla pro- vides us with an ideal context since it preserves a particularly high number of pithoi; thus far about 300 individual pieces have been recognised. As evidenced by petrographic analyses, some of these are clearly non-local and originate elsewhere in Cyprus or outside the island. The discovery at Pyla of non-local specimens is, therefore, quite remarkable and can serve as additional evidence of the intense interconnections of this defensible site during the late thirteenth century BCE.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
