Reading the interview with Christian Metz “The Semiology of Cinema? It is Necessary to Continue!” almost thirty years after, among many possible points three stand out. The first is the humanity of Christian Metz. The second is the longue durée of the Bazinian matrix of his thought, of which he was perhaps only partly aware. The third is the equivalence of structuralism and theoretical approach, almost as though they were synonymous, as if structuralism was not a method, or a model (something that here again Metz denies having ever proposed), but rather an approach, an intellectual attitude.

Abstract
Reading the interview with Christian Metz “The Semiology of Cinema? It is Necessary to Continue!” almost thirty years after, among many possible points three stand out. The first is the humanity of Christian Metz. The second is the longue durée of the Bazinian matrix of his thought, of which he was perhaps only partly aware. The third is the equivalence of structuralism and theoretical approach, almost as though they were synonymous, as if structuralism was not a method, or a model (something that here again Metz denies having ever proposed), but rather an approach, an intellectual attitude.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
