The concept of sovereignty is living a new life: after having been envisaged as vanishing – due to the exponential expansion of the cyberspace and the nation states’ shortcomings at regulating digital matters – is being reborn phoenix-like from its ashes precisely thanks to its use of the very same cyberspace and digital dimension, Thus, digital sovereignty has been developing, at different levels, with different meaning for different State actors, expressing an ever-changing nature and embody- ing a growing complexity. China is obviously at the centre of the process of defining digital sovereignty for a number of reasons. To follow the redefinition of conceptual and regulatory boundaries of the concept of sovereignty in digital China is a necessary step to understand the new life of sovereignty in the contemporary world.

Abstract
The concept of sovereignty is living a new life: after having been envisaged as vanishing – due to the exponential expansion of the cyberspace and the nation states’ shortcomings at regulating digital matters – is being reborn phoenix-like from its ashes precisely thanks to its use of the very same cyberspace and digital dimension, Thus, digital sovereignty has been developing, at different levels, with different meaning for different State actors, expressing an ever-changing nature and embody- ing a growing complexity. China is obviously at the centre of the process of defining digital sovereignty for a number of reasons. To follow the redefinition of conceptual and regulatory boundaries of the concept of sovereignty in digital China is a necessary step to understand the new life of sovereignty in the contemporary world.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
