For the centuries from the 6th to the 12th, the IMAI (Inscriptiones Medii Aevi Italiæ) compile all existing or somehow known inscriptions produced and/or preserved in Italy, without any distinction based on functions, supports, execution techniques, languages, and scripts. Only texts inscribed on seals and coins are excluded, as they traditionally fall under disciplines distinct from epigraphy. The volumes do not include those "inscriptions" that are not strictly such in reality, such as isolated Christograms or individual apocalyptic letters, which, despite being composed of alphabetical signs, have exclusive symbolic or ideogrammatic significance.

Abstract
For the centuries from the 6th to the 12th, the IMAI (Inscriptiones Medii Aevi Italiæ) compile all existing or somehow known inscriptions produced and/or preserved in Italy, without any distinction based on functions, supports, execution techniques, languages, and scripts. Only texts inscribed on seals and coins are excluded, as they traditionally fall under disciplines distinct from epigraphy. The volumes do not include those "inscriptions" that are not strictly such in reality, such as isolated Christograms or individual apocalyptic letters, which, despite being composed of alphabetical signs, have exclusive symbolic or ideogrammatic significance.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
