This essay is dedicated to the difficult relationship between Roberto Rossellini and the critical reception of his work in Germany. In particular, it reconstructs the problematic case of Germany Year Zero (Germania anno zero / Deutschland im Jahre Null), filmed largely in a Berlin destroyed by bombing during the summer of 1947 and distributed on German soil only starting from 1952, only in Western Germany. Secondly, it studies the case of Angst (La paura / Fear), shot entirely in Germany and much less known, but equally significant both for the themes addressed by Rossellini also in this film, as well as for its critical reception, less problematic only in appearance.

Abstract
This essay is dedicated to the difficult relationship between Roberto Rossellini and the critical reception of his work in Germany. In particular, it reconstructs the problematic case of Germany Year Zero (Germania anno zero / Deutschland im Jahre Null), filmed largely in a Berlin destroyed by bombing during the summer of 1947 and distributed on German soil only starting from 1952, only in Western Germany. Secondly, it studies the case of Angst (La paura / Fear), shot entirely in Germany and much less known, but equally significant both for the themes addressed by Rossellini also in this film, as well as for its critical reception, less problematic only in appearance.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
