Per una filosofia della filosofia

In proposing a balance sheet of this lively philosophical discussion on philosophy, the chapter starts from the consideration that at the basis of the pervasiveness of philosophical commitment in daily life there is the discovery of the non-obviousness of the apparently obvious: the experience of the problematic nature and of the inadequacy of the «world of life». This leads to the thesis according to which in philosophy is inherent the dissatisfaction with the given, a perplexity and a critical attitude. Antithetical to technical, operational, positive knowledge, philosophy reflects a tendentially polemical position, which however is not accompanied by the immediate rejection of the existent (of which, however, philosophy captures the absurd), but the obstinate search for a sense. The chapter concludes by observing that philosophy accompanies us in life as the daughter of amazement and perplexity, perhaps of discomfort and strangeness, underlying the continuous effort to generate meaning in our experiential path, whereby it can be argued that it is constitutively inherent in them a practical attitude.
