The modernist style that reigned in the first half of the 20th century affected the architectural aesthetic of industrial structures. These modern industrial heritage buildings demonstrate the progress of industrial output in modern society and modernism's architectural style. Contemporary industrial heritage buildings are "great examples" of industrial legacy architecture due to their design and adaptability to industry changes. After explaining essential ideas, the study finds four modernist industrial historic structures out of fifty-two contemporary buildings on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List, differentiates between modern architecture and modernism, and evaluates Alvar Aalto's Toppila Pulp Mill as an example of modernism. Analyzing the four buildings' development and regeneration processes yields conclusions. These four industrial heritage buildings are then compared to Alvar Aalto's concrete silo. The objective is to offer suggestions for a potential silo revival in the near future. To better protect and regenerate the Alvar-designed silo, the studies recommend four elements: integrity, authenticity, sustainability, and creativity. This study gives ideas and references for how Alvar Aalto's concrete might be saved and used in the future. It can also be used as a guide for preserving and remaking other kinds of industrial heritage.

Abstract
It can also be used as a guide for preserving and remaking other kinds of industrial heritage.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
