Giovanni Giorgi’s chapter on the sampling properties of inequality indices concentrates upon reviewing the different contributions to the subject. It is certainly a useful collection of bibliographical references for the researcher interested in a complete statistical analysis of income data sets. To complement the chapter, I will attempt to put the statistical inference for inequality indices into a unified framework, at the cost of being more technical, as well as discuss some recent developments in statistical theory that could be applied to the analysis of inequality and related issues.

Abstract
Giovanni Giorgi’s chapter on the sampling properties of inequality indices concentrates upon reviewing the different contributions to the subject. It is certainly a useful collection of bibliographical references for the researcher interested in a complete statistical analysis of income data sets. To complement the chapter, I will attempt to put the statistical inference for inequality indices into a unified framework, at the cost of being more technical, as well as discuss some recent developments in statistical theory that could be applied to the analysis of inequality and related issues.File in questo prodotto:
