IntheworkofLeCorbusierandPierreJeanneret,the house for Lucien Baizeau inaugurated the chapter on re- searchintotheclimaticfunctionofdomesticarchitecture, whichwouldbecomeoneofthemainthemesofthemod- ern architecture of Le Corbusier’s followers around the world. After the prototype for Villa Baizeau in Carthage, other projects by Le Corbusier and Jeanneret for the coasts of North Africa would form the cornerstones for perfecting the devices of a bioclimatic architecture to come, of which the two versions of the project for the Villa in Carthage appear to have been at the epicentre in themid-1940s.
