This paper provides a detailed review of the answers given by José Jesús Gómez Asencio in an interview proposed to him in 2019 focusing on the historiography of grammatography and his work in this field. Based on a reading of this text and the personal memories of one of his disciples – the author of this article – a broad picture is drawn of the figure of the Rector of the University of Salamanca describing his importance as a historiographer and his ideas on grammatography and the historiography of grammatography as well as his work as the leader of a large group of disciples.
