Mesalazine (5-ASA) is an anti-inflammatory drug used for ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease. Most of the available oral modified release tablets targeting for the colon. Due to elevate dosage level of 5-ASA the commercial tablets have high dimension for allowing druv control release. This a problem for a paediatric an geriatric administration because unlike in adults, where oral dosage forms such as tablets or capsules are acceptable to the majority of patients, in the case of pediatric patients, includiding neonates, newborn, toddlers, young children and adolescent, and eldere patients there are widely varying needs. The mains problems are the bitter taste and the swallowing of solid dosage forms like tablets and capsules. The aim of this work was to develop an characterise gastro-resistant multiparticulate systems for mesalazine colon delivery to be easily disperded in water and swallowed by children
