The various aspects of the aesthetic education of the elite (art, taste, morals and society) in the 18th century, between the classical canons and the humanist revivals, are examined here, starting with a study of the main aesthetic-philosophical systems of the 17th and 18th centuries and examining texts such as Condillac's 'Cours d'etude', Locke's 'Thoughts on Education', Lord Shaftesbury's 'Letters to a Young Student at the University' and Lord Chesterfield's 'Education of the Gentleman', among others.
