The doctrines of empiricism have only partly informed modern British aesthetics, in which we see the persistence of another, more 'classical' current of thought: Platonism. The volume thus outlines an intellectual framework within which the influence of Platonic doctrines in eighteenth-century aesthetics is more fully appreciated, and provides evidence of the continuity of neo-Platonic ideas and motifs in the reflections on beauty and art of the leading theorists of the period, from Addison to Coleridge.

Abstract
The doctrines of empiricism have only partly informed modern British aesthetics, in which we see the persistence of another, more 'classical' current of thought: Platonism. The volume thus outlines an intellectual framework within which the influence of Platonic doctrines in eighteenth-century aesthetics is more fully appreciated, and provides evidence of the continuity of neo-Platonic ideas and motifs in the reflections on beauty and art of the leading theorists of the period, from Addison to Coleridge.File in questo prodotto:
