Spatial deixis within political discourse on Twitter

In this chapter, I address spatial deixis within the convergence of physical and virtual places in Spanish political discourse on Twitter. Through a corpus-based analysis, and adopting a cyberpragmatic approach (Yus 2011), the aim of this study is to contribute to our understanding of the notion of place in political discourse on social media. The chapter begins with an overview of theoretical issues connected to the notion of place in social media, and to spatial deixis in Spanish, followed by a description of the methodology and the data, a discussion of the main results, and the final conclusions.
