L’INCASTELLAMENTO NELL’APPENNINO ROMAGNOLO TRA LE VALLATE DEL MONTONE E DEL SANTERNO (X-XIII SEC.).

The origins and spread of castles in Romagna have been at the center of several archaeological and historical projects of the University of Bologna for several years through excavations reconnaissance and analysis of charts a settlement framework with non uniform characteristics is emerging this contribution will analyze the various types of castles thanks to these new projects in the Apennine valleys between Romagna and Tuscany where are settled sites connected to early medieval religious structures that attracts the rural population already between the 8th and 9th centuries or settlements related to the exploitation of mineral resources in the area chalk-limestone useful for producing millstones and other stone elements or to early medieval curtes on which some of the castles known in the ninth and tenth century contracts depend the transformations of these sites in the passage towards the second frame of the 12th and 13th century will also be examined

Le origini e la diffusione dei castelli nel territorio romagnolo è da diversi anni al centro di alcuni progetti dell'Università di Bologna attraverso scavi ricognizioni e analisi delle testimonianze scritte sta emergendo un quadro insediativo con caratteristiche non uniformi. In questo contributo verranno analizzate le varie tipologie di castelli conosciuti grazie a questi nuovi progetti nelle vallate di passaggio tra Romagna e Toscana dove si sviluppano insediamenti legati a strutture religiose altomedievali che attraggono il popolamento rurale già tra VIII e IX secolo oppure a insediamenti legati allo sfruttamento delle risorse minerarie presenti nel territorio gesso calcarenite utili per produrre macine e altri elementi in pietra o ad aziende curtensi da cui dipendono alcuni dei castelli conosciuti nei contratti di e secolo erranno prese in esame anche le trasformazioni di questi siti nel passaggio verso il secondo incastellamento di XII e XIII secolo.
