The essay examines the evo lution of the political thought of Giulio Perticari in the period of conflict between the Napoleonic domination and the Restoration, and highlights the relationship between linguistic reflection and the idea of the nation. In parti cular, the investigation deepens the correlation that Perticari has always sought between linguistic norm and unitary dimension of Italy, to the point of making the concept of homeland a topic of historical-literary codifica tion, in a broad cultural horizon able to overcome the municipal and local context.
