Comunicación política en tiempos de conflicto: la Revuelta de Mesina y la Paz de Nimega en la Gazeta Ordinaria de Madrid (1677-1679)

The complexity of the Hispanic Monarchy leads us to question how news got from the provinces to the metropole, center of the Monarchy. In this sense, two events that took place at the end of the 17th century have been chosen. In both, Spain was main actor, the Peace of Nijmegen, in the Netherlands, and the Messina Revolt, in Sicily, and therefore, in Spanish Italy. Both conflicts constituted serious problems for the Monarchy of Carlos II. The main object of study is, therefore, the comparison between the news of both conflicts, with special attention to their periodicity and place of production, before, during and after the conflict, which represents a new source of information for the study of the political events of the Early Modern Age.
