Fascism inerited from liberal colonialism a weak position in North Africa and after a brutal repression which definitely pursued the elimination of any form of opposition in the early 1930s Libya was 'normalized' as colony. By then fascism tried to leverage on Libya to pursue a pro-Arab imperial policy to oppose the British leadership. Italian economic and military weakness through IIWW highlighted contradictions in such a project and finally determined its failure.
