Retorica e autopsia negli scritti di Ulisse Aldrovandi: il draco bolognese tra historia e rappresentazione ad vivum

L'articolo indaga l'utilizzo retorico delle immagini nelle opere di Ulisse Aldrovandi, evidenziando da prima la sua formazione retorica, inserendola nelle pratiche comunicative (scientifiche e non) del suo secolo, ed evidenziando la problematicità di considerare le illustrazioni rappresentazioni fedele di qualcosa che viene osservato. Si argomenta invece che una lettura ampia e contestuale dell'opera aldrovandiana suggerisce invece che siano le immagini stesse a rendere 'vive' agli occhi del lettore le specie rappresentate.
