New urban landscapes - fragments of civil architecture. There are many declinations of the term "reconstruction", and as many are the personal answers, because always architecture represents a personal and unique reinterpretation. The problem of contemporary architecture lies in the complex challenge of channeling this heterogeneous uniqueness within a shared general culture, where only the essential relationship with history constitutes this common connective. It therefore seems desirable to link the research and definition of urban places to the necessary urban framework. A link that is now more necessary than ever in order to give the city and its places back not only a material and economic meaning, but also a spiritual one linked to the shape of the city, its hisyory, and its memory, which overcomes the abstract filter of technical-normative instruments, opening up a reflection on the destiny of the city and its architecture, trying to overcome this arbitrary uniqueness, which risks to overwhelm, producing only design objects, increasingly desirable but that age quickly. Overcoming the old moralisms of the modern movement in terms of historicist reconstruction, it seems necessary for the society to regain possession of places in which one can recognize oneself, such as evocative places, because architecture is the theater of our life and the facades the scene of our life. If, on the one hand, therefore, the process of critical reconstruction must start again from the research of the path, it cannot ignore the theater, made of evocative architecture, an identity sign of a certain language. The task of the urban project should therefore be to re-propose the reasons for the shape of the city, underlying and complementary to the reappropriation of its value of its meanings and its beauty, as well as to its desirable and proper functioning. Its role must be inscribed within this order of things as a search for this double soul of the city; one material, an expression of the structure and the very structure of the city, the other cultural, visible in those forms of theoretical representation, artistic or literary, and more generally in that set of representations, images and ideas forged over time and generative of the multiform universe that is the city.
