L’esperienza e il racconto del sacro tra chiese e musei

Museums often present issues in describing, interpreting, and explaining sacred artifacts. On the other hand, also churches have difficulties in connecting with their lay visitors, who are primarily interested in the cultural value of ecclesial heritage. For both these institutions, storytelling has proved its importance in relation to the changing understandings of sacred art and religious objects in our secularized and multicultural society. Different approaches to the narratives of religious Cultural Heritage are discussed, focusing particularly on the educational role of storytelling and on its ability to connect the public with objects of religious interest, promoting an emotional engagement that can lead to a spiritual experience.
