This article deals with entangled transatlantic political developments in the first quarter of the twentieth century from a southern European angle, focusing on the trajectories and ‘careers’ of Italian activists and migrants. It starts from the assumption that broad sectors of the rural and industrial Italian proletariat were particularly sensitive to revolutionary ideas because of their marginalization from the political sphere. The article focuses on the shape of revolutionary visions and aims through the agency of Italian militants active on a transnational scale. In the face of extreme tensions and conflicts affecting all political movements, ambitions of radical change would be violently overthrown and fundamentally distorted by the ‘fascist revolution’

The article focuses on the shape of revolutionary visions and aims through the agency of Italian militants active on a transnational scale. In the face of extreme tensions and conflicts affecting all political movements, ambitions of radical change would be violently overthrown and fundamentally distorted by the ‘fascist revolution’I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
