Diagnosis and Pathogenesis of animal chlamydioses. Proceedings of the 3rd Annual Workshop of COST Action 855 "Animal Chlamydioses and its zoonotic implications"

This is the third annual workshop of the COST Action 855 “Animal Chlamydioses and its zoonotic implications” and the first to be held in Italy. Each year there have been advances in knowledge of many aspects of chlamydiae infecting animals and of several potential risk factors for the zoonotic transmission of these infections to human beings: this body of knowledge is further developed by the contibutors to the present workshop. This meeting represents, indeed, a wonderful occasion to bring all together scientists involved in different fields of chlamydiology. Basic science, epidemiology, pathogenesis and diagnosis are the major topics that will be presented and discussed. In addition, as it was in the previous annual workshops of COST 855, held in Dublin in 2003 and in Budapest in 2004, veterinarians, clinicians and biologists will meet in a wonderful scientific arena and the results presented will be of major interest for the advancement of science in the field of zoonotic infections.
