Painting of the early Contemporary Age reserves some attention to the mythical figure of Agamemnon and the characters closely involved in his story, mostly including him in figurative works that retrace the salient moments of the Homeric and especially tragic narrative, the latter with various modulations. The twentieth century, on the other hand, tends perhaps to isolate his figure, to make him a kind of monument to himself, with singular experiences in stage design. The result is a continuous redefinition that gradually dilutes the very recognizable identity of the characters in the drama, now pondered within more ‘intimate’ and personal poetics, now transfigured into open and polysemic symbolic forms.

Abstract
Painting of the early Contemporary Age reserves some attention to the mythical figure of Agamemnon and the characters closely involved in his story, mostly including him in figurative works that retrace the salient moments of the Homeric and especially tragic narrative, the latter with various modulations. The twentieth century, on the other hand, tends perhaps to isolate his figure, to make him a kind of monument to himself, with singular experiences in stage design. The result is a continuous redefinition that gradually dilutes the very recognizable identity of the characters in the drama, now pondered within more ‘intimate’ and personal poetics, now transfigured into open and polysemic symbolic forms.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
