This paper focuses on the static behaviour of cylindrical shells and takes the initial curvature ef-fect into account. The First-order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT) is used to analyze the above-mentioned moderately thick structural element. The treatment is developed within the theory of linear elasticity, when the material is assumed to be isotropic and homogeneous. Numerical results are presented in order to show the influence of curvature on some parameters of relevant interest for the real behaviour of shell structures.

Abstract
This paper focuses on the static behaviour of cylindrical shells and takes the initial curvature ef-fect into account. The First-order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT) is used to analyze the above-mentioned moderately thick structural element. The treatment is developed within the theory of linear elasticity, when the material is assumed to be isotropic and homogeneous. Numerical results are presented in order to show the influence of curvature on some parameters of relevant interest for the real behaviour of shell structures.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
