Famiglie complicate: la maternità delle schiave e delle libertà in età romana

This text analyses some Roman funerary inscriptions that present familiae; the composition of these families cannot always be reconstructed with certainty mainly due to the presence of holders of different rights that do not always make possible an iustum matrimonium and the legitimacy of the children. In particular, one notes the discrepancy between the iconographic and epigraphic representation of these familiae, between practice and law.
