Abstract
A paper dwelling on some aspects of the tale of the boy-hermit Satyatapas ond of his speech-impairment, cured by his utterance of the Goddess's mantra. The tale of Satyatapas (or Satyavrata), as found in the Devī-Bhāgavata-Purāṇa, reflcts the mainstream theme of absolute ahiṃsā vs. varṇāśrama-dharma. Satyatapas is also a paradigm for the brahmin who, as a result of his mūrkhatva, is shunned by his own community as unfit for any ritually determined social status.File in questo prodotto:
