Investigating Cold War military sites in Italy and Europe

The chapter is part of broader research that explores the decommissioned military sites and artefacts built during the Cold War in Italy from 1947 to 1989. Most of these sites fall into disuse after a short deployment time, to be abandoned. The situation opens an engaging reflection on how to preserve, reuse or notify these material testimonies, which used to contain the most dangerous weapons in circulation. It is also an occasion to discuss the current perspective on the responsibility of Italy in the conflict and how reuse and preservation can convey it.
